Geosonda inspected the train disaster Wetteren
On an order from Ecorem nv, Geosonda was given the urgent assignment of inspecting the calamity that occurred as a consequence of the train disaster in Wetteren, Belgium.
During this calamity, a large quantity of extremely poisonous acrynotrile seeped into the ground. This formed an acute threat to residents and the environment.
During a period of two weeks, and amongst others under very strict safety measures and with an extremely flexible time schedule, approximately 40 holes and monitoring wells were drilled with the objective of delimiting the contaminated area. Subsequent to this, and during the cleanup, additional inspections were carried out as part of a monitoring plan.
